New York Baby!
In July of 2012 McKay had a training for work in New York, so we all decided to go and make a nice family vacation of it. We went early to get a few days of playing in before the training and stayed late so we could get another few days of playing after the training. One of our goals is to visit all 50 states, so we decided to make the drive to some of the states we haven't been too as part of our vacation. We started out going to Boston and we stayed a night with one of McKay's friends who lives there and is getting his Doctorate at Harvard and he gave us a personal tour of the campus and told us some the history of the buildings and told us some fun stories.
The next day we got up and drove from Massachusetts to Rhode Island and then went up to hit Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. We didn't spend much time in Rhode Island, Vermont or New Hampshire other than just driving through and stopping for lunch. We did get out and do a little wandering around when we hit Maine. We found a very nice little beach called Wells beach that we walked along and let Cambri play in the sand and the water while we toke pictures and watched her. Of course if you are a seafood lover and go to Maine you can't leave without getting a Maine lobster dinner so we did that and it was so good! We then drove back to Massachusetts and stayed in a hotel close the airport for the night so we could get up first thing in the morning and fly back to New York.
The next three days where fairly uneventful because those where the days of McKay's training. We did go into time square to eat dinner at night. One of the nights we went to the 911 memorial site. It was a very nice memorial. they have 2 fountain pool in the footprints of the 2 buildings that fell with the names of all that lost their lives written around the edge.
After the training was over we flew up to the northern part of New York to see the Hill Cumorah Pageant. For those who don't know McKay and his family went out to New York every year for about 16 years while he was growing up to be in and a part of the Pageant. His mother was the Costume director and they all played various parts and did various other jobs with the Pageant each year. I had never been, so this was a great chance for me to see what they had been a part of for so many years. The Pageant was great and the area up there is beautiful. We also hit many of the historical church sites up there. One of the family's favorite things about going to Pageant every year was going to a little shack hamburger and ice cream place called Chill and Grill. I have heard McKay rave about it and talk endlessly about how great the ice cream is and how he has never had anything else compare to it. After having gone there now I can see why he still dreams about it. It was very good ice cream and very good burgers too. Probably the best I've ever had. We went there every day!
While we were up state we also decided to hit Niagara Falls. We had heard that it was better from the Canada side so we decided to view it from there. It was so breath taking and the pictures we toke don't even do the experience justice. Cambri loved the wet, misty breeze.
Us on the Charles River that is the border between Boston and Cambridge. It's a famous river for rowing matches.
On Harvard Campus.
Our quick stop in Rhode Island. We didn't even take Cambri out of the car because she was sleeping.
Wells Beach
This is the Survivor Tree at the 911 Memorial. It was the only tree on the grounds that survived the attack. It was pretty badly broken and mutilated though. They toke it off site for a while to grow and recover some place else. Then it was blown down by a wind storm or something and so they brought it back to the Memorial site.
The three of us at the Memorial site.
Niagara Falls
A stuffed moose that McKay saw in a Urinal somewhere.
Enjoying Chill and Grill
At the Pageant site.
Cambri eating a stick.
Chill and Grill once again.
The Sacred Grove.
Time Square with Elmo.
Pool time at Grandma B's
Here are some pictures of Cambri and Zoe playing in the pool with their Grandma Bea during the summer. They are both big time water babies.

Right before we left the park for the first night with Cinderella's castle in the back ground.
Toon Town
Kenley and Cambri chillin' in the strollers.
The fun New Orleans style band we sat and listened too. Cambri really liked the music.
